The EIA reports that Brent averaged $64 a barrel in 2019 and WTI averaged $57, both $7 lower than in 2018. The 2019 Brent range of about $20 was the narrowest since 2003, and rising U.S. production limited price gains.
A narrow trading range and rising U.S. output indicate that crude has offered limited upside, which keeps energy input costs for feed relatively stable.
