USDA's December 12 report raised 2018 U.S. wheat carryover to 960 million bushels, up 25 million from November, on a 25 million bushel export cut. The agency attributed the reduction to heightened Canadian competition in Latin America and East Asia.
Higher wheat carryover from reduced export demand is bearish for U.S. wheat prices, as Canadian supply competes in key export markets. The change is moderate relative to total supplies.
