Indian 5% broken parboiled rice fell to about $377-$380 per tonne from $387-$390 the previous week on weak African demand and Chinese sales of old stock. Bangladesh said it will discuss lifting its long-standing rice export ban after pleas from traders.
Weak demand and cheap Chinese stocks keep Asian rice export prices under pressure. A possible Bangladeshi reopening would add export supply and could weigh further on prices.
