Ukraine exported a record monthly volume of 622 thousand tonnes of sunflower meal in January, up 37% m/m and 2.2 times y/y, with strong shipments to China. Its share of EU sunflower meal imports has fallen behind Russia's for the first time, with Ukraine at 37% and Russia at 40% this season.
Shifting Ukrainian meal toward China and away from the EU tightens EU meal supply, supporting alternative protein meals in Europe while the Black Sea outlook is uncertain.
