Ukraine exported about 2.37 million tons of sunflower meal in September-April of 2024/25, down 29% year on year and the lowest for that period since 2011/12. Shipments fell to the EU (-25%), China (-18%), Egypt (-10%) and Turkey (-79%).
The EU cut its sunflower meal imports about 26% in favor of soybean meal.
Smaller Ukrainian export supplies tighten sunflower meal availability in key import markets, supporting prices. Buyers relying on sunflower meal may face firmer offers while soybean meal takes share in the EU.
