The MAIZALL delegation visited Mexico last week to meet government and industry stakeholders on the 2020 decree banning GM corn for human consumption by 2024. The group raised concerns about the lack of new GM event authorizations since 2018 and said Mexico's import needs could be hard to meet.
Risk to Mexico's large GM corn import program is a bearish factor for US and South American corn exports if the ban is enforced.
