Oklahoma State extension economist Derrell Peel reviews January-July 2022 North American cattle trade. U.S. cattle imports fell 6.3% year over year to 951,910 head, while exports fell 36.7% to 192,415 head.
Imports from Mexico were the smallest for the period since 2009.
Tighter feeder cattle supply from Mexico and lower U.S. exports support domestic feeder and live cattle prices by reducing the number of animals available to feedlots.
