Startup of the Golden Pass LNG export project has been pushed to at least the second half of 2025 because of construction delays. Venture Global's Plaquemines LNG is also awaiting FERC approval and may start later than expected.
Analysts say these delays limit new domestic gas demand from LNG exports.
Delayed LNG capacity means less feed gas demand from export terminals, which keeps US natural gas prices under pressure. Lower gas prices reduce costs for nitrogen fertilizer and ethanol-related inputs.
