Following the August 12 WASDE, nearby corn fell about 8 cents initially and closed with December corn down 13.25 cents. November soybeans rallied 22 cents on the session.
The analyst said average USDA price forecasts remain below cost of production for both crops.
The split reaction, with corn lower and soybeans higher, reflects a larger corn crop and tighter soybean balance. Prices below production costs may slow farmer selling and support prices over time.
