USDA's Grain Transportation Report says June 1 grain stocks were unchanged year over year, with off-farm stocks up 12 percent and on-farm stocks down 10 percent. Disappearance for the March-June period was 4.9 billion bushels, up 3 percent from the five-year average.
Rail carloads and barge movements were above average, and the Acreage report forecast higher corn and lower soybean acres.
Higher off-farm stocks and above-average rail and barge activity point to steady movement through the marketing chain. Lower forecast soybean acres and higher corn acres shape the balance for next season's feed grain supply.
