An Iowa State survey found subsoil moisture in northwest Iowa improved at nearly all sites compared with fall 2020, after August to November rainfall replenished soils that had been in drought. Most sites are at or above long-term November averages.
Recharged subsoil lowers the risk of drought stress for the next crop, which is mildly bearish for corn and soybean prices.
