Feed grain bids in Western Canada eased from highs as feedlots were covered into the new year. Feed barley and wheat bids for January to March delivery were around C$220 per tonne, below the mid-June peak near C$290 for barley.
Statistics Canada put 2019 barley output near 10 million tonnes.
Feedlots already covered and a larger-than-expected barley crop add pressure on Canadian feed grain prices. Truck shortages between Saskatchewan and Alberta add some logistics friction.
