Asian propylene oxide prices rose from $2,976 per tonne in July to $3,205 in the first week of August and $3,434 in the last week. The increase followed Dow's force majeure declaration, which cut its supply of the upstream raw material propylene.
The force majeure tightens supply of a petrochemical intermediate used in polyols and polyurethanes, lifting derivative prices in the short term. It has no direct effect on feed ingredient supply or prices.
