The Philippines’ National Food Authority raised its buying price for clean, dry palay to as much as ₱30 per kilogram, with most branches now offering ₱28–₱30; fresh palay is priced around ₱25–₱26. It also increased the procurement ceiling for eligible small farmers, targets 790,000 metric tons of purchases this year and next, and has additional funding and mobile trucks to support procurement.
Higher government procurement prices and a larger buying program can strengthen domestic palay demand and support Philippine rice prices. The planned purchases may also limit grain available to private buyers if procurement absorbs a substantial share of supply.
After 168 past bullish policy events, Rough Rice moved a median +0.8% over 5 sessions (57% higher; middle half -1.7% to +2.1%), and -0.4% over 20.
