Iran authorized duty-free imports for 2026 of 3 million tonnes of wheat and 1.5 million tonnes of barley from Eurasian Economic Union members. The wheat quota includes 2.25 million tonnes from Russia, 700,000 tonnes from Kazakhstan and 50,000 tonnes from Belarus; the tariff exemption applies on a first-come, first-served basis.
The tariff waiver may encourage Iranian buyers to source more grain from Eurasian suppliers, supporting regional export demand while increasing competition for other suppliers. The additional import access is modestly supportive for wheat and barley prices in supplying countries.
After 431 past bullish trade events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.1%), and +0.5% over 20.
