The UK’s net official reserves fell by $2.231 billion in October to $108.428 billion, with valuation effects accounting for $2.210 billion of the decline. Improved foreign-currency liabilities offset about 62% of the fall in gross reserves, and the Treasury reported no foreign-exchange intervention.
Because the decline was overwhelmingly valuation-driven and involved no intervention, it signals little direct change in UK foreign-exchange supply or policy. No material feed or agricultural commodity price effect is apparent.
