Uruguay's cattle-for-slaughter market remains firm, with strong demand for steers and more cows on offer. Last week 47,510 head were slaughtered, the most since February, though many were feedlot-finished animals sold under prior arrangements.
Steers sold at US$6.00 per kg carcass, and cows mostly at US$5.60-5.70.
Steady slaughter demand and stable carcass prices suggest no major shift in beef supply or price direction for feed buyers. Supply is still below the usual seasonal level.
