UK processor Freshways announced a 3p per litre cut to its January farmgate milk price, taking it to 47p per litre. GB daily milk deliveries rose 3.4% year on year after record October production, and EU milk output also grew.
Wholesale dairy prices for cream, butter, skim milk powder and mild cheddar fell in November.
High milk supply and weaker wholesale dairy prices are pushing farmgate prices lower, with further spring declines expected. Lower European milk returns could also reduce dairy ingredient supply and pressure global dairy prices.
