Nigeria’s Institute for Agricultural Research released more than 50 climate-smart sorghum varieties intended to improve food security and help farmers cope with climate change. Farmers and other stakeholders were invited to assess the varieties at a field day and provide feedback to guide selection.
If adopted, more resilient and productive varieties could support Nigerian sorghum supply and temper local price pressure over time; the immediate market effect is likely limited.
