In Uruguay, prices for slaughter cattle remained firm, with premium steers quoted at US$6.00–6.10/kg, while the in-calf replacement cow price rose nearly 3%. International grain weakness carried into the local market: new-crop soybeans fell below US$410/tonne, wheat dropped below US$210/tonne, and canola offers were below US$510/tonne.
Lower grain prices reduce feed input costs but also reflect weaker crop-market pricing; firm slaughter-cattle values indicate continued support from beef demand relative to supply.
