China’s third-week-of-August monitoring showed national beef prices down 0.1% week over week and mutton down 0.2%; live hogs and piglets each fell 0.4%, while pork was unchanged. National corn prices fell 0.5% and soybean meal prices 0.3%; compound feed prices were flat for fattening pigs and slightly lower for poultry.
Lower corn and soybean meal prices ease some feed input costs, while flat or lower compound-feed prices offer limited additional relief to livestock producers. The modest moves suggest only a small bearish effect on feed markets.
