The Bank of Thailand plans to publish rules for a fully backed baht-referenced stablecoin in March 2027, following a consultation period that has been extended. The central bank says the token could initially provide a holding option for crypto investors and later support payments and transfers, while it also plans tighter oversight of issuers and wallet providers.
The announcement concerns financial regulation and payment infrastructure; it does not indicate a direct effect on agricultural commodity supply, demand, or prices.
