CMA CGM announced peak-season surcharges of $400 per TEU on shipments from South China to Mozambique, and from China to Tanzania and Kenya, with start dates from November 10 or 15. It also announced rate-restoration measures for selected shipments from Canada’s West Coast to the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East Gulf, and the Red Sea, effective between November 10 and December 3.
The surcharges increase the cost of moving containerized goods on affected routes, including potential feed and agricultural inputs, and may raise delivered prices for importers. The impact is route-specific rather than a direct change in commodity supply.
