The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index fell 1.46% to 3,633.45 on November 6, its first decline in five weeks. Asia-to-US East Coast container rates dropped $342 to $9,857 per 40-foot container, while carriers were expected to cancel only a small share of East–West sailings.
Weakening container rates reflect softer shipping demand and capacity that remains available, which may reduce freight costs for containerized imports. The figures are not specific to grain or bulk feed commodities.
