South Korea has reported three highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks at poultry farms this winter, including two layer farms. A 30-egg tray averaged 7,354 won on November 6, up 5.1% in two days, while the government is strengthening biosecurity and importing eggs to stabilize supply.
Further infections and culling at layer farms could reduce egg output and tighten supply, keeping consumer prices elevated. The scale of any price impact depends on additional outbreaks and the size of culls.
