Ukraine plans to expand cotton acreage in 2027 after trials in southern regions showed promising results for domestic varieties. The Ukrainian varieties matured earlier than the foreign varieties tested, with reported yields of 2.9–3.2 tonnes per hectare and fiber output meeting textile-industry requirements.
If the planned expansion proceeds, additional domestic cotton could increase local cottonseed availability for crushing and feed use, while potentially reducing reliance on imports. The acreage is prospective, so the near-term price effect is limited.
