Ukrainian company Poletehnika shipped 7,000 tonnes of wheat directly from Danube ports to Egypt’s Abu Qir port, selling to Egyptian millers and other businesses. The direct-sale arrangement returned $6 per tonne more than an FOB sale and $15 per tonne more than a CPT sale.
The shipment demonstrates an alternative route for Ukrainian wheat exporters to reach Egyptian buyers and improve netbacks amid falling prices. Additional direct sales could support Ukrainian wheat demand and export prices, although this single shipment is small relative to overall trade.
