USDA reported that negotiated wholesale prices for graded loose shell eggs rose during the week ending November 6, with national truck-lot prices for Large white eggs up 11 cents to 46 cents per dozen. Prices also increased in New York, the Midwest, and California, while shell-egg inventories available for marketing rose 4% and Large-egg inventories rose 6%.
Higher wholesale prices indicate firmer near-term demand relative to available supplies, although inventory gains may limit further price increases. Stronger egg prices can raise costs for poultry-feed buyers indirectly if producers seek to recover higher production costs.
