Fonterra raised its forecast milk-price range for the current financial year from NZD 8.50–10.50 to NZD 9.00–10.50 per kilogram of milk solids, lifting the midpoint from NZD 9.50 to NZD 9.75. The cooperative cited strong demand for whole and skim milk powder, particularly in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and China, and also increased its organic milk-price forecast.
Stronger export demand for milk powders supports returns to New Zealand dairy producers despite record milk collections. The higher forecast is bullish for milk prices.
