China’s national average live-hog price fell to 8.64 yuan/kg on November 6, below its previous low for the year. Weekly slaughter volumes eased, but hog weights continued to rise and November marketing plans increased; slaughter demand and secondary-fattening activity showed only limited improvement.
Rising marketed weights and larger planned shipments add near-term pork supply while demand is recovering slowly, keeping pressure on hog prices. Reduced sow numbers could tighten supply later, but that effect has not yet reached the market.
