Morocco’s Competition Council published notice on November 5 of OCP SPS’s proposed acquisition of exclusive control over EMAPHOS. The proposed purchases target Budenheim’s and Prayon’s stakes, each representing one-third of the company; a later transaction would give OCP full ownership.
EMAPHOS produces purified phosphoric acid at Jorf Lasfar, and the notice does not mean the deal has been cleared or completed.
The proposed change in ownership could affect the control and commercial direction of a Moroccan phosphoric-acid producer, an input for phosphate fertilizers. No immediate change to fertilizer supply or prices is established because the acquisition remains proposed.
