The dollar opened in Colombia at 3,243.71 pesos on November 6, up 0.20% from Thursday’s close. U.S. October employment rose by 165,000 jobs, above expectations of 70,000, while unemployment fell from 4.2% to 4.1%; the strong labor data raised expectations of a Federal Reserve rate increase in December.
Stronger U.S. labor data and higher rate expectations supported the dollar against the Colombian peso, which can increase the local cost of imported feed commodities. The currency move was modest, so the direct price implication is limited.
