The Mexican peso appreciated 0.93% over the week, breaking an eight-week run of losses, and strengthened 0.65% on Friday to 18.6270 per dollar. The move came after Banxico cut its policy rate by 25 basis points to 6.25%; analysts said a narrower Mexico-U.S. rate differential remains a risk, while the cut was partly priced in and expectations of further reductions were tempered.
Peso strength can make dollar-denominated feed imports cheaper for Mexican buyers, although the reduced interest-rate differential could renew currency weakness and raise import costs.
