Vietnamese and Thai export rice prices rose to their highest levels in nearly two years amid supply-disruption concerns and strong demand. Vietnam’s 5% broken rice was quoted at $480–$490 per tonne, up from $470–$480 a week earlier, while Indian prices eased as new-season arrivals improved supply.
Higher prices in Vietnam and Thailand point to firmer export-market demand and supply concerns, supporting rice prices from those origins. Improved Indian arrivals are a countervailing source of supply and may limit the broader price rise.
