Green Plains reported third-quarter net income of $85.4 million, up from $11.9 million a year earlier, as Section 45Z tax credits and stronger ethanol crush margins offset lower production volumes. Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled to $118 million, and the company raised its expected 2026 contribution from 45Z credits to as much as $250 million.
The tax credits improve ethanol producers’ economics and may support future production and feedstock demand, although Green Plains’ lower quarterly volumes limit the immediate demand signal. Regulatory uncertainty around the credits remains a risk to those economics.
