Avian influenza was confirmed on November 4 in a 47,000-bird commercial laying-hen farm in Pierce County, Washington. The eggs were destroyed, and it was the first commercial poultry flock affected in Western Washington since the current outbreak began in 2022.
The flock loss reduces local egg production, but its limited scale and layer focus are unlikely to materially affect listed feed or livestock commodity prices.
