Morocco’s OCP plans to acquire full ownership of Euro Maroc Phosphore (EMAPHOS), a producer of purified phosphoric acid currently held equally by OCP, Prayon and Chemische Fabrik Budenheim. The proposed takeover would proceed in two stages, first raising OCP’s stake to 66.67% and then to 100%; the transaction has been notified to Morocco’s Competition Council.
The takeover would give OCP greater control over phosphate processing and higher-value products, but does not itself indicate a change in fertilizer supply or prices. Any market effect is likely limited unless the ownership change leads to changed output or trade flows.
