The Malaysian ringgit weakened against the US dollar on Friday, closing at RM4.0565–RM4.0610 per dollar compared with RM4.0445–RM4.0490 the previous day. It gained against the euro, sterling and Singapore dollar, while demand for the US dollar rose as technology shares sold off.
A weaker ringgit makes dollar-priced feed and agricultural commodity imports more expensive for Malaysian buyers. The move points to upward pressure on USDMYR.
