Chicago soybean futures rose on Friday after reaching their lowest level since August 14, but still ended the week down 2.62%. Rosario’s spot soybean price was unchanged on the day at 535,000 pesos per tonne and fell 1.83% over the week.
The Rosario Grain Exchange attributed the daily recovery to short covering and bargain buying, while the arrival of newly harvested soybeans limited gains.
Short covering supported a modest rebound, but fresh harvest supplies and expectations of a potentially record U.S. crop weigh on prices. The balance of these factors points to continued pressure despite the day’s recovery.
