December natural gas futures rose 2% to $3.007/MMBtu on Friday and gained 5.3% for the week, supported by colder forecast revisions and LNG feedgas demand approaching a daily record. Lower 48 production fell to 111.2 Bcf/d, while an EIA storage injection of 77 Bcf brought inventories to 3,801 Bcf, 54 Bcf above the five-year average.
Stronger LNG feedgas demand and lower production support prices, while above-average storage and weak spot prices limit the upside. The competing supply and demand signals imply a modestly supportive but capped outlook for near-term natural gas.
