Pupuk Indonesia is assessing investment or acquisition opportunities in phosphate and potash mines in Algeria, Belarus, Canada and Russia to secure raw materials for its fertiliser business. No agreement has been announced; the company is considering government-to-government arrangements or direct company partnerships as it plans to expand NPK production from 4.6 million tonnes annually.
If investments eventually provide direct access to mines, they could reduce Indonesia’s reliance on imported phosphate and potash as fertiliser output grows. The plans are preliminary, so they do not yet change near-term supply or prices.
