Irish wholesale gas prices were 37% lower in May than a year earlier, according to Vayu Energy, due to European oversupply and mild weather. Prices rose 3% from April because of North Sea outages and colder weather, and Irish electricity prices fell 30% year on year helped by wind generation.
Lower European gas prices reduce energy and fertilizer input costs. The effect is regional and does not move the main feed commodity markets much.
