Foreign investors' Turkish lira derivative positions with local banks fell by $4 billion in the week through October 30, to $50.4 billion. The positions contracted by $10 billion over the final three weeks of October, reaching their lowest level since mid-June; the decline does not necessarily represent an equivalent outflow of foreign capital.
Reduced investor exposure to the lira may add pressure on the currency, potentially raising the lira cost of imported feed inputs. The report gives no evidence of an actual capital outflow of the same size.
