The dollar opened in Peru at S/3.440, down 0.15% from the previous close of S/3.445, as the sol initially appreciated. The move came despite U.S. employment data showing 165,000 jobs added in October, above expectations of 65,000, and unemployment falling to 4.1%.
A lower dollar against the sol marginally reduces the local-currency cost of imported feed inputs, although strong U.S. jobs data could support the dollar if it leads to tighter Federal Reserve policy.
