U.S. ethanol production increased 2.2% in the final week of October to 1.14 million barrels per day, its highest level since early January and 1.8% above the year-earlier level. Ethanol exports rose 26.7% to a four-week high, while inventories edged down but remained above year-earlier and five-year-average levels.
Higher ethanol output and exports support U.S. corn demand, although ample ethanol stocks and below-average gasoline consumption temper the demand signal. The net effect is modestly supportive for corn.
After 1,040 past bullish report events, Corn moved a median +0.5% over 5 sessions (62% higher; middle half -0.9% to +2.0%), and +0.8% over 20.
