Peru’s Ministry of Production changed the conditions for exploratory fishing of white anchovy, or samasa, under a new ministerial resolution. The activity may begin the day after authorized vessels are listed and will continue until the estimated catch limit is reached; authorities can suspend areas or end the activity if juvenile catch, bycatch, or conservation concerns arise.
The change governs exploratory fishing of a distinct anchovy resource and does not establish a material change to commercial anchoveta or feed-ingredient supply.
