Dry-bulk freight markets were mixed but firmer overall during the week. Pacific Capesize rates weakened from the start of the week, while South Brazil and West Africa routes recovered midweek and North Atlantic rates strengthened; lower bunker prices supported vessel earnings late in the week.
Freight rates affect the cost of moving grain and other feed inputs, but the report gives no clear change in grain-specific transport costs. The price impact for feed commodities is therefore limited and uncertain.
