USDA retail-ad data for October 24–November 5 showed the overall chicken promotion rate up 5.3% from the prior week and the activity index up 23.3%. Advertising increased for whole birds, IQF products, ground chicken, prepared items, deli products and giblets, but declined for chicken parts; the advertised average for fresh conventional whole birds fell to $1.07 per pound from $1.41.
The promotion mix indicates shifting retail competition among chicken formats rather than a clear change in overall poultry supply. More aggressive offers can pressure advertised prices in promoted categories, but the figures are not wholesale market prices.
