Highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu was detected at poultry farms in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and South Korea’s Gyeonggi province. Authorities culled all 225,860 laying hens in Mexico and 90,986 poultry in South Korea as a precaution.
The culls reduce laying-hen and poultry supply in the affected areas, potentially tightening egg and poultry availability and supporting prices if outbreaks spread or trigger wider control measures.
