Poland has opened a 2.5 billion zloty tender for a deepwater container port at Świnoujście, planned to handle 2 million TEU annually. The project is intended to expand shipping options for containerized food and processed agricultural products, but it will not handle bulk grain.
Additional container capacity could improve export logistics for processed agri-food products over time. Because the terminal is not designed for bulk grain and is not yet operational, the near-term impact on feed commodity supply and prices is minimal.
